Eggs & edible flowers

Eggs are just so classic! Sometimes I think they are too pretty to eat! Our eggs range from a soft blush pink to a standard brown. I love decorating with eggs around the house as well as gifting them!

Neighbors, friends, co-workers, hairdressers, the postman… just about anyone loves getting a dozen “farm fresh” eggs. This gesture is special because YOU took time to collect every egg and YOU cared for an animal that produced this food. I tell my husband every day that it’s like Christmas morning when I open up the nesting box and find beautiful eggs! 🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚

Herbs and flowers are super beneficial to keeping a healthy flock. One of my favorite edible flowers are Marigolds, both for beauty and for health benefits. This flower is a favorite treat amongst chickens, they go CRAZY for them! The Marigolds help egg yokes, beaks and feet turn a healthy, orange color! It also detoxifies as well as being an antioxidant. I grow them from seed! (So inexpensive!) Did you know Chickens love flowers?!

Although Marigolds are inexpensive, growing them from seed is even cheaper! They are easy to grow and very forgiving.
Wentworth has such a spunky personality!

Blessings, Jolie 🌼

  1. Gma remembers a time when a family member would give the rural postman a dozen eggs to be delivered to another person further down his route. No postage, no problem.

  2. I didn’t know chickens liked flowers. Nor did I know they were beneficial to the chickens themselves! I look forward to learning more from your blog. I already enjoy your gorgeous chicken coop!! ❤️
