There are a lot of different kinds of Lilac shrubs. I happen to be a fan of the light purple varieties but I would a agree they are all beautiful. When I lived in the country, this 15 foot Lilac shrub attracted butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees in massive amounts. My chickens loved to dust bathe underneath the huge branches and would eat any bugs they could find!

When in bloom, the light purple flowers glisten in the sun and give off a sweet scent. I have 2 Lilac bushes coming my way this Spring and I can’t wait to get them planted. Do you grow Lilac? 💜

I love lilac bushes! That one is just gorgeous. You mention your chickens dusting under it. We have found that Jack likes to visit our neighbors chickens and dust himself in their dust baths!!! They seem to tolerate him just fine.
I will need to research whether or not lilacs can grow here. (Whether o can keep them alive is a whole other story!!)

We are delighted to have a lilac here in Roseburg, after finding them too difficult in So Cal and the Oregon coast. What’s more, our neighbors have them, leading to a fine fragrant time!
